Spanish I

Upcoming assignments: Self-presentation PowerPoint (to be used exclusively in class) due Friday, Sept. 23.

  1. Drill the 11 verb gestures. First, the teacher will say the word and the students will perform the gesture and then they will exchange roles and do the opposite.

  2. For the test found in Lesson 1.12, section 9, the students see a series of images that remind them of topics about which they should be able to speak at this point in describing their life. They will have 90 seconds to say as much as they can about where they live, what they make, listen, watch, prepare, etc. The images are only there to remind them of things they could say. It is not necessary for them to speak about each topic the images suggest, nor even to speak about them in any particular order. All that matters is that they say as much as they can about themselves. They can say what applies to them (i.e., "I live in a house.") and also what does not apply to their life (i.e., "I don't live in an apartment."). During this time, therefore, they are to practice giving this talk to the person sitting next to them, as directed by the instructor, who will start by giving his students an example of this talk by describing his own life.
