COPPA Notice

THE ULAT’s OPEN NOTICE TO PARENTS AND LEGAL GUARDIANS

This open notice or letter is in accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and outlines our practices regarding children’s personal information. Through COPPA, United States Federal Law requires organizations like The ULAT to obtain parental or legal guardian consent to collect, use, or disclose personal data or information for or from any users under 13.

As this is a paid educational service, it is assumed that parents complete their child’s registration information, which requires only a username, password and either the parent’s, legal guardian’s or child’s e-mail address. Providing the parent’s, legal guardian’s or child’s first and last names is strictly optional. The ULAT does not knowingly disclose any of this information to a third party. To ensure that this minimal information is not directly collected from children, The ULAT stipulates that those completing the registration form must be 13 years of age or above.

Once registered, students, parents, and legal guardians may update the student’s profile information by logging into their corresponding account. The totality of the information collected serves only to enable users of the ULAT program to establish or change a username and password providing access to the lessons and to allow The ULAT to send information to its users that is pertinent to the use of the ULAT lessons.
